  9. Q:  My third-party floppy disk drive doesn't work on the NeXT.  When I boot my system I get messages like the following:\

  30. \f0\fs28 Once my system has booted,  the Workspace doesn't recognize the floppy drive.  Sometimes it repeatedly displays panels that tell me to initialize the disk, but when I try to, the initialization fails.\

  36. \f0\fs28 A:  This is probably a problem with the floppy drive, not with NeXT hardware or software.  No device with only one drive in it should respond to multiple luns (logical unit numbers).  Support should be available through your third-party supplier or manufacturer.\

  38. Note for PLI Turbo Floppy 1.4:\

This problem will be seen on the version of the PLI Turbo Floppy 1.4 that is sold as a peripheral for the Apple Macintosh, which has special requirements for its SCSI.  The unit can be modified to run on NeXT systems by adding a jumper and a new ROM.  Call PLI Technical Support to order an upgrade kit or arrange for them to perform the upgrade.\
